ReplyDeleteSihk religion has rules that the believers have to respect. The relationships of this religion are very watchlists, the Hindus couldn’t be with people who believe in other religion, or they are strange if they’re with them. The role of women is to stay at home and do the cooking, the washing, the ironing and more. The customs are very different, there are saris and more clothes with bright colours. Marriages are big and important celebrations where people wear elegant clothes, eat special food, listen and dance typical music…
The view of homosexuality in the Hindu religion is very extreme. They think that homosexuality is a sin or a problem and they’re alarmed when a girl likes a girl or a boy likes a boy. This religion is very different than the others and very strict.
In the story, the two characters and religions are a bit opposite but I think that the friendship between the two girls reconcile the two different worlds and at the end they are able to play football in the United States.

ReplyDeleteIt seems that the life of an Hindu is a bit difficult. I think that it looks like the old Spanish society when men were at work and women had to be at home doing the housework. In that time, young women could only marry men of their own religion and to do differently was a disgrace for the whole family.
In the film we see that the habits and customs of the Hindu family are very different from ours: the food they eat, the way they think, how they celebrate weddings, …and specially what they want for their children.
However, at the end, the two worlds seem to reconcile to each other, and the parents allow the girl to play football, because, as in any other country or culture, every parent wants the best for their children.

ReplyDelete-The film explore and discusses the Hindu religion and Jesminder’s life. She only dreams of becoming a professional football player, but her mother wants her to attend university and become a lawyer. She tells her “You must start behaving like a proper woman”.
Her father is the character who reconciles the two worlds. He lets her go to the football match, and later, he allows her to play in anther country.

ReplyDeleteThe marriage is coordinated by both families, bride and broom, and they have the custom to celebrate it at home. Once the marriage is done, the women remain in the house cooking, doing the housework and taking care of their children.
In the film, the Hindu family don’t like that her daughter plays football. They want her to go to college and study laws. And later, she has to marry with a good Hindu man.
But the two worlds reconcile thanks to Jasminder’s father and the friendship between the two girls.

ReplyDelete- The film explores and discusses the Hindu religion and Jesminder's life. She wants to become a professional football player, but her parents want her to attend university and become a lawyer, because they say that football isn't for girls, specially for indian punjabis sikh girls. They say that the women have to be married with a good man, staying at home and cooking for him. They can't have relationships, because they're engaged so soon. Girls can't choose her boyfriends, her parents have to choose.
The customs are so different from ours, and no one have to see their legs. Young girls have to start becoming like a proper women, learning to cook,... That's why Jasminder's parents don't like that she plays football with shorts. The homosexuality isn't normal for pujabis, they don't like it.
- Jesminder's father allows her to leave her sister's marriage to play in the finals at the football match. Her football couch goes to her house to talk with Jess' father, because he wants him to know that she's a very good football player.
Saray Martinez 4t C Spain
ReplyDeleteI think that in the Hindu religion the woman is responsible for making food, cleaning the house and care and educate their children. She can study too, but they can’t do anything more.
In this film we can see her big sister getting married because she was in love, but the tradition in this religion is concerted marriage, and they can only marry another person of the same religion and opposite sex, because they don’t accept the homosexuality. Weddings usually last a long time and is celebrated with a big party.
The casual clothes to young people are no different from other religions, only on special occasions, but people go with costumes of their religion called saris.
In the story we can see how the worlds Hindu and non-Hindu reconcile through the friendship between the two girls and the love story between Jesminder and her coach.
